All of these restaurants & pubs we’ve eaten in and enjoyed. Booking ahead is essential in the vast majority of these venues below as they do get full. Monday to Thursday, many restaurants last table is at 8pm and 9pm at weekends. Check their website for details.
Glebe House – Walkable from Underhill, a real taste experience ran by our neighbours Hugo & Olive, it’s a lovely place for a special meal and its open Thursdays to Sundays.

The Mason’s Arms – Charming pub in Branscombe with lovely food
The Fountain Head, Branscombe,– Proper Devon pub, lovely pub grub and atmosphere, last orders for food is 8pm.
The Pig Gittisham. About 15 minutes from us, The Pig in Gittisham is part of a small group of fine restaurants great for a celebration or treat. Celebrating hyper-local with many ingredients grown on-site or sourced within 25 miles.
The Pea Green Boat in Sidmouth is right on the seafront and is a wonderful small restaurant with a lovely menu based on what’s good that day and in season.
The Millside, Lyme Regis – A real star in Lyme Regis, just 20 minutes away and we’ve enjoyed the food and service there.
The Pilot Boat, Lyme Regis – On the main road in the heart of Lyme Regis, relaxed and friendly, its great for a burger but if you want something more fancy it has plenty of options.
The Lyme Bay in Lyme Regis – Lovely brasserie with sea facing terrace for when the weather is right. Great fish and chips and steaks as well as a new cocktail bar downstairs.
Baroque Lyme Regis– Great menu of food from the fire, some great Lebanese and dishes from around the world.
The Strawberry Tree, Lyme Regis, lovely tapas restaurant or even great for a morning coffee
The Candlelight Inn, Bishops Wood, Chard. Beautiful pub with quirky décor and a great menu and wine list. This isn’t pub grub, this is star restaurant quality food and service in a lovely Pub setting. A little further away but definitely worth a visit or even worth while popping into when en-route to us!
